Views on Recent NUS "Orientation Camp" saga

Recently, it was published widely on the news about an incident that happened during an activity by some NUS students from Kent Ridge Hall, featuring some incoming freshmen and their seniors. It was alleged (note the case is still pending investigation) that during an activity, participants had to form the longest possible line using personal articles. Some participants started to undress to various states of nudity on Sentosa beach. The activity was eventually called to a halt by a facilitator, but not before catching media attention. There was then an uproar online online about the activity, as NUS had gotten into trouble for 'lewd' orientation activities back in 2016. I will share my views on this issue below, from a factual standpoint, and my interpretation on what the outcome on this incident should be. The activity was not held during an Orientation Camp. It was held the day after the camp, with the participants not wearing any NUS-related clothing. Th...

Chinese Song Feature #1: 那些年

Those who know me will know this one fact. I suck in Chinese. I used to be good back in Primary School, having had an A* for my Chinese, and Merit for Higher Chinese. That was until I entered a Math and Science school, and my Chinese plummeted. Luckily, I managed to scrape past O Levels Higher Chinese with a B4, and never had to attend another lesson.  Don't get me wrong. I don't hate the language. In fact, I'm an avid listener of Chinese Songs, Dramas, and Movies. I decided to start this thread of good Chinese songs to show the songs I hold dear to my heart. The Song The first song I list is one that has been around for more than 6 years. It is a theme song from one of the most successful Taiwan movies, You Are The Apple of My Eye (那些年,我们一起追女孩), a movie about how a delinquent (Guo Ke Teng) and a campus belle (Shen Jia Yi) could form an unusual partnership, romance forms, but never develops. Presenting to you, Those Bygone Years (那些年). https://youtu.be/KqjgLbKZ...

Post-ORD Plans

Apologies for the rather late update this week, as I had been crippled with a horrible flu, and now I'm still unable to speak properly due to the huge ulcers in my mouth. I decided to write this post as it has been something on my mind for quite a while now. Yes, I know. It's still 619 days to ORD, and I probably should be focusing on my new vocation rather than thinking about these stuffs. But hey, it's never too early to dream about what's gonna happen after I reclaim my Pink I/C and achieve the top rank of a Civilian again right? After all, some do say these 2 years fly by very fast (though really, it's been quite a slow ride as of late...) To put it out there first, I DO NOT  intend to work during those few months between ORD (Feb 2020) and commencing University (Aug 2020). The reason is simple, in that having worked in a stressful organization for 2 years, and having spent the previous 6 years of my youth bettering my portfolio and improving myself, ...

So... Why Law?

This is the first of a few (or many) Law-related blog posts I am writing. As mentioned before, I am writing these posts in order to guide juniors through giving my own views on Law School admissions via my own experiences. All opinions are, of course, my own. However, this article is addressed more towards those who know me well, and are interested to know why I decided to study Law in university. I will cover the reasons of choosing Law  in this article. When some of my friends and teachers heard that I was admitted to Law School, beneath their sincere congratulations and well wishes, I could sense that many were shocked. Understandably so. Many of them asked "Why Law?" I owe all of them an answer. I graduated from NUSHS last year, which is a Math and Science school. My diploma was with Major w/ Honours in Mathematics, and Major in Physics and Chemistry. I did not take English Literature. My English modules, while decent, were never outstanding compared to m...

Welcome to Waydespectives

Greetings. I write this blog with many intentions, and hence this blog will not be very organized. I am currently serving in the Singapore Armed Forces. So, some of my posts will naturally be about my experiences with the SAF. I am not in the position to divulge any confidential information, though I may comment on my views of the SAF, as well as the good, the bad, and the things they need to ke belakang pusing (turn back) on. #628daystoORD If all goes well, I will be attending the National University of Singapore (NUS) School of Law come August 2020, and I'm scheduled to graduate with the Class of 2024. When I enroll into Law School, I will share my experiences about NUS Law. In the meantime, I will be writing a few articles about my journey into Law. This is not so much for the general viewer, as it is for any of my juniors who wish to apply for Law. I also have a keen interest in Current Affairs, hence I will share my views on them often. My pet topics are Educa...
